He was born in Cross Fork on May 26, 1923, a son of the late Edward F. Sr. and Christina (Wingeret) Wenzel.

Ed worked as a conductor/brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail for over 40 years.

He was a Methodist by faith. He was a member and Past Master, for four terms, of the F. & A.M. Lodge #495, the Williamsport Consistory, and was a former secretary of the D.A.V. Also, he was a member of the Renovo American Legion, Renovo Elks, 40 + 8 Club, Tamarack Grange #1388 and FEMA.

Ed served on the Flaming Foliage Festival Committee for many years and was a Renovo Biddy League member and coach. He was a real "people person" who loved spending time with his family. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.

During World War II, Ed served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Association.

On Aug. 11, 1998, Ed married the former Louise A. Hasara, who survives in Shintown. Also surviving are a son, Joseph R. (Linda) Wenzel Sr. of Shermans Dale; a daughter, Terrie (Mark) Levatino of Pendleton, N.Y.; a sister, Dorothy Bhenke of Cannonsburg; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Memorial funeral services will be held at a later date and will be published when scheduled. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hyner. Memorials are requested to Bucktail Medical Center, Renovo Area Public Library or the Renovo Masonic Lodge #495.
