PETER F. WIBLE

Peter registered for the draft in Philadelphia, PA on 30 June 1942 and was inducted into the Army at New Cumberland, PA on 7 June 1944.

His arrival in Company I, 508th PIR is unknown as no morning reports are available from June though December 1945 but her did appear in the Company I group photo for the 3rd Anniversary on 20 October 1945.

Of great significance is the fact that World War II Hospital Admission Card Files, 1942-1954] stare that in March 1945 he is recorded as " Killed in action; Location: Unknown; Causative Agent: None or Unknown; Not in Medical Installation Prior to Death."

That fact is recorded with the name Peter F Wible and ASN 33947427.

Yet, on 14 January, Peter filed this application for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans bonus.  He was credited with 10 months of domestic duty and 9 months of foreign service earning him a $205 bonus award.

Note that page 1 shows that the name and ASN are the same as above and that he was discharged on 13 November 1945 at Unit B, Separation Center, Indiantown Gap Military Reservation where most Pennsylvania me were out-processed.

.Note also that he listed his wife as Mary Catherine Wible and their then three children as John, Carol and William.

Peter died on 22 July 1957 (for the second time?) in Philadelphia.

.WIBLE On July 32, 1977 PETER, husband of the late Mary Montgomery, father of John, Carol Broadbent, William, Denise Borner, Colleen Borner and Darlene Wynne and survived bv 10 grandchildren. Relatives and friends invited to funeral Wed. 9 AM., at AUSTIN J. FENERTY FUNERAL HOME, 2357 E. Cumberland St. Mass of Christian Burial, 10 AM St. Anne's Church. Int. New Cathedral Cem. Friends may call Tues.eve.

His wife Marty had preceded him in death but John, Carol and William survived him as ell as younger siblings Denise, and Darlene.

One can't help but wonder whether his family ever received the dreaded telegram notifying of his misreported death.
