CHARLES W. WILCYNSKI

Charles W. Wilcynski, 65, of 2409 31st St., Columbus, died Thursday at Columbus Community Hospital after a six month illness.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bonaventure Church, with Rev. Austin Albers officiating. Burial is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with
military honors by Hartman Post 84 American Legion.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. Sunday at McKown Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilcynski was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Columbus, the son of Walter and Minnie Borneman Wilcynski. He attended St. Bonaventure Schools and married Helen Schroeder on May 20, 1947, in Columbus. He married Elsa Kruse on Aug. 10, 1962, in Columbus.

Mr. Wilcynski lived all his life in Columbus except from 1971 to 1983 when he lived in York. He was employed with Nebraska Public Power
District for 36 years, from Sept. 23, 1946, to Dec. 31, 1982. He
retired as the maintenance supervisor with the York sub-station crew.

Mr. Wilcynski served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Oct. 26, 1939, to Aug. 27, 1945. He was a sergeant in the 508th Parachute Infantry Division. He received the Purple Heart. Mr. Wilcynski as a member of the V.F.W. Post 3704 and the American Legion Hartman Post 84 in Columbus. He was also a member of St. Bonaventure Church.

Surviving are his wife, Elsa of Columbus; four sons: Michael of St. Edward, Louis of Stoughton, Wis., James of Fremont and John of York; one brother, William of Buffalo, Wyo.; one sister, Margaret (Mrs. Bill) Ralston of McLean, Va.; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen, on May 20, 1959.

Charles was a member of Company A during WW-II.

His wife Elsa M. Wilcynski, died three years later on May 5, 1989 and is buried here as well.
