At The Soreno

   Dean Williams, form pianist of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and Bahama Shires Hotel, led the orchestra when the Soreno Hotel opened its newly remodeled Terrace Dining Room and Lounge last Evening.  He has been signed up for the season, to play for dancing and entertainment.
   Williams, a native  Chicagoan, came here in January of this year, after having played in leading Chicago night spots since 1946. Trained in infancy by his mother he has been a professional singer and dancer from the age of four.  He started his musical career with the 508th Parachute Infantry band, finished his training as a pianist after he got out of the service.
   Last year he came here to visit his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Stan Price, liked the town so well that he stayed.

DEAN WILLIAMS

   ST PETERSBURG BEACH (Special) --- Dean Williams, 42, of 8909 Gulf Blvd., died Saturday in a St. Petersburg hospital.

  A native of Chicago Ill., he came here 18 years ago from there. He was director of music at the Princess Martha Hotel and for more than  12 years was director of music at the Bath Club, Redington Beach.

   A member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, St. Petersburg Beach, he was a member of Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society. He was a graduate of Chicago Musical College and Loyola Academy.  He was a veteran of World War II.  He was director of Congregational singing at St. John's; music master of the Queen of Hearts ball since inception; was organist for St. Petersburg Symphony Guild; organist for St Anthony's Guild and was active in the March of Dimes program.  He was a member of Chicago Federation of Musicians and Greater St. Petersburg Musicians Association.

   Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Sylvia M. Price and a sister, Mrs.. Jane Nelson, of St Petersburg Beach.
