John T. "Jack" WILLIAMS
WILLIAMS - John T. "Jack" July 26, 2010 at age 73; beloved husband and best friend of Christine (nee Redivivo) Williams; devoted father of Pamela (Joseph) Sacco and Kim Hamilton; step-father of Joseph (Allison) Calabrese; grandfather of Jonathan, Olivia, Gillian and Giavanna; son of the late Henry F. and Bernice (nee Zobrest) Williams, Sr.; dear brother of Marlene Lochbaum, Donna Williams and the late Henry F. Williams, Jr., Jacob Williams, Darla Burkhart, Richard Williams and Sharon Clark; also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will be present on Wednesday from 2-8 PM at the (Delaware Chapel) AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1132 Delaware Avenue (near West Ferry Street) where Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 8:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:30 AM from Our Lady of Hope Church (formerly Annunciation), 248 Lafayette Ave., Buffalo. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Elm & Carlton Sts. Buffalo, NY 14213.

John Williams, Metro Bus driver
marathon runner

  John T. Williams, a Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority [NFTA] Metro Bus driver and avid marathon runner, died Monday after a long illness in Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He was 73.
   Mr. Williams was born in Buffalo and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1954. After leaving high school, he enlisted in the Army and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division until 1962.
   After returning home, Mr. Williams began working as a truck driver for Bachman Foods, delivering snack foods to grocery and convenience stores throughout Buffalo. He worked with the company until 1982 before taking a position with the City of Buffalo's Department of Parks and Recreation as a groundskeeper for Delaware Park. During the winter months, Mr. Williams also worked as a bartender for the former Mr. Tony's on Hertel Avenue.
   In 1985, Mr. Williams was hired by the NFTA and worked out of the Delavan Station, primarily serving the East Side and Riverside neighborhoods. During that time, he was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union. He retired from the NFTA in 1997.
 

   From 1982 through 1995, Mr. Williams ran in local marathons and races, including the Turkey Trot.
   He also ran in the 1984 Skylon and Buffalo-Niagara International marathons in 1985 and 1986. He also competed in the 1987 Darien Lake Individual Triathlon.
   Mr. Williams was a member of Kenmore Council 3076, Knights of Columbus, from 1995 to 2005.
   Survivors include his wife, the former Christine Redivivo; two daughters, Pamela Sacco and Kim Hamilton; a stepson, Joseph Calabrese; and two sisters, Marlene Lochbaum and Donna.
   A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 18 Greenwood Place.
