ROBERT K. WILSON

 

Record of burial and grave marker for Robert K. Wilson in Graceland Cemetery, New Castle (Lawrence county), Pennsylvania.

Robert enlisted in the Army at Brighton, PA on 13 January 1941. He was tapped for OCS and may have been commissioned as early as 1 April 1942.

He sailed for the ETO on 24 March 1945.

1st Lt Wilson was transferred from the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment to Hq 1st, 508th PIR on 1 November 1945.  He returned to the U.S. on 28 January 1946 and was discharged 16 March 1946 at the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation, PA..

 

On 1 February 1950 Robert submitted the above Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus application.

However, his military life was not over as he was recalled to duty for the Korean Conflict.  He served during the period 15 February 1951 through  20 March 1953.Whether he was in combat during that period is not known.
