E. JOSEPH WNUKOWSKI

(courtesy of Glenda Perkins)

Grave marker for Eustace Joseph Wnukowski in the Saint Denis Cemetery, Douglas (Worcester county), Massachusetts.

He enlisted in the Army on 12 August 1941 at Worcester, MA and by July 1943 he had attained the rank of T/4.  It was first noted at that same time that he had begun to use the initial "E" rather than his first name.

It would appear that T4 Wnukowski remained in base camp supporting the efforts of the regiment as a rigger rather than being sent into combat.  In August of 1945 he was transferred to the 513th PIR, probably to board a troop ship movement heading back to the States.
