Woehrmann, Ferdinand "Fred"

CLIFTON PARK Ferdinand "Fred" Woehrmann, 86, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Mt. Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam [NY]. Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Julia (Leonard) Woehrmann. Fred was an Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a staff sergeant and was awarded a Purple Heart.

He was a route salesman with the former Wards Baking Company in Colonie and State Line Potato Chips in Glens Falls. After his retirement, Fred was a starter at the Clifton Knolls Golf Course and was active in the American Legion Post #1450 where he made many friends.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Harry and William Woehrmann, Julia Blair and Lucille Follis. He is survived by several nieces and nephews as well as close friends, John and Mary Miller and Joan Martini, all of Clifton Park. The family wishes to thank the 4th floor staff at the Mt. Loretto Nursing Home for the excellent care extended to Fred during his time as a resident. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service from 9-11 a.m. Interment, Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
