HOWARD W. F. WOLFE

Howard Wolfe

   Howard Wolfe, 53, of 300 W. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, died Sunday at Ashland Hospital where he was admitted April 17. The Faust Funeral Home, Treverton, has charge of arrangements.

Howard registered for the draft in Sunbury, PA on 10  March 1943 and was inducted into the Army at Harrisburg, PA on 24 May 1943.

Pfc Wolfe was transferred from 82nd Airborne Division Hq to Hq 2nd, 508th PIR on 23 July 1944.

He was wounded in action on  2 October 1944 and evacuated.  On 29 November 1944, Pfc Wolfe was transferred to the Parachute Replacement Regiment, The Parachute School, Ft Benning, GA for further medical treatment.

He was discharged from the Army at the Kennedy General Hospital, Memphis, TN on 23 April 1945.

 

On 19 January 1950, Howard submitted this application for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus.  He was credited with 17 months of domestic duty and 6 months of foreign service which resulted in a $260 bonus payment.
