Bonus application for Dominick G. Yanchunas.
Dominick enlisted in the Army at Hartford, CT on 29
October 1942 and was assigned to Company G, 508th PIR.
On 26 October 1943 Pfc Yanchunas was appointed to the
grade of Corporal.
 Cpl Yanchunas jumped into Normandy on D-Day and was taken prisoner that
same day. He remained in a POW camp for the remainder of the war
and returned to the U.S. on 21 April 1945.
He was transferred to Ft Benning for medical checkups and
discharged there on 30 August 1945.
His military decorations include the Bronze Service
Arrowhead device awarded for participation in Normandy assault. |
