CHARLES E. YATES

Grave marker for Charles E. Yates in the Plot: Veteran's Field of Honor, Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach (Harrison county), Mississippi.

Charles enlisted in the Army at Camp Shelby, MS on 30 October 1942 and was initially assigned to Hq 2nd, 508th PIR but was transferred to Company E on 3 May 1943.

Pvt Yates was listed as seriously wounded on 4 July 1944 but after hospitalization was able to rejoin his company on 27 September 1944.

Pfc Yates was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for his participation in Normandy assault
