BENNIE W. YON

Mr. Bennie William "B.W." Yon, 85, entered into rest Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Mr. Yon is survived by his; children Ben (Dianne) Yon of Cowpens, Jerry William (Loreli) Yon of Petersburg, IN, Charlie Carol Yon of New Ellenton, Barbara Ingram of New Ellenton, and Sarah (Gene) Baxley of Olar; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sisters Betty (George W.) Fulmer of Wagener, and Daisy Young of Salley, and brother Brodus (Sallie) Yon of Salley.

Mr. Yon was born in Aiken County, the son of the late Ben T. and Lillie Cooper Yon. He was preceded in death in 2009 by his wife of 65 years, Edna R. Walton Yon, and brothers; J. E., Jack Wesley, Bobby, Franklin, O'Ray & Infant Boy. Mr. Yon was a member of Fountain of Life Fellowship.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 pm to 8 pm in the Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St., South, Wagener, SC 29164. The Funeral Service will be Saturday at 11 am at Fountain of Life Fellowship in Aiken, with Rev. Larry Williams, Rev. Larry Jones, and Rev. Julian Boles officiating. Burial will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens with Military honors. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers

Bennie enlisted in the Army at Ft Jackson, Columbia, SC on 29 January 1944.

Pvt Yon was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during the Normandy, France Campaign, 6 June 1944 to 9 July 1944, effective 15 Feb 1945.
