Grave marker for Roger B.
Young in Section Q of the El Reno Cemetery, El Reno (Canadian county),
Oklahoma. Roger enlisted in the army at Oklahoma
City, OK on 8 March 1943 and after completion of jump school he was
sipped overseas.
On 29 September 1944 Pvt Young was transferred from
82nd Airborne Hq to Service Company, 508th PIR. He was
subsequently transferred top Co F on 27 October.
Pvt Young was hospitalized on 12 February 1945,
perhaps due to frostbite as he was classified as a non battle casualty.
On 10 May 1945 the Private was transferred to another
unnamed hospital but on 28 May he was transferred back to Company F from
the 19th Reinforcement Depot.
No further available records within the 508th are
available regarding Roger's military service but according to his grave
marker inscription he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant prior to
discharge.
On 9 September 1958 Roger Young was admitted to Agana,
the capitol of the United States territory of Guam.
The purpose of his trip is unknown.
