LOUIS W. YOURKOVICH

Grave marker for Louis W. Yourkovich in Belmont County Memorial Park, Saint Clairsville (Belmont County(, Ohio.

Sgt Yourkovich was awarded the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster as a consequence of being twice wounded. 

His first wound occurred on 4 July 1944 in Normandy.  A lengthy recuperation apparently forced him to miss the jump intro Holland but he was back on active status in time to participate in the Battle of he Bulge.  He was wounded a second time on WIA 29 Dec 1944, Belgium.
