Joseph enlisted in the Army at Camden, NJ on 23 September 1942.

Although he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal on 31 July 1944 under General Order 32 while a member of Company H, there is no other mention of him in available 508th PIR records.

VA records indicate that he was discharged on 3 November 1945.
