Application for Pennsylvania WWII  Veterans Bonus by René J. Zappley.

René enlisted in the Army at Fort Myer, VA on 9 June 1942.  The initial period of Pvt Zappley's service career is largely unknown.

The application record shows that he went overseas on 30 May 1944.  The Roy Barger album included a photo of René but it is undated and does not disclose his rank either.  However, based on his inclusion in the album, it is surmised that René was a member of service Company, probably as a rigger, in late 1945.
