Maurice S. Zingarelli, Sr.,
Maurice S. Zingarelli, Sr., 84, formerly
of 142 Eastern Ave passed away peacefully Saturday, November 4th in the
UMass-Memorial Healthcare-Memorial campus.
Maurice’s wife Elizabeth (DiStefano) Zingarelli passed
away April 22nd.
He is survived by two sons, Maurice Zingarelli, Jr. and
his wife Karen of Shrewsbury, Anthony Zingarelli and his wife Laura of
Webster; two brothers, Jimmy and Frank Zingarelli and a sister, Mary Cosenza all of Worcester; five grandchildren, Gina Marie, Anthony F.,
Kathryn, Lauren and Jillian; many nieces and nephews. A brother, Angelo
Zingarelli pre deceased him. Maurice was born in Worcester, son of
Salvatore and Zingarelli. He was a World War II, U.S. Army veteran
paratrooper serving with the 506th Infantry Battalion of the 82nd Infantry
Division.
Maurice worked more than 28 years for the U.S. Postal
Service at the East Central St. branch before retiring.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, the
Eastside Post 201, American Legion and the National Association of
Government Employees Union. He was an avid baseball fan for both the
Yankees and the Eastside Post 201, Legion Team.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, November 7th from the
MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a mass at 11:00
a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will be in
Notre Dame Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held Tuesday,
November 7th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Members of the Eastside Post
201, American Legion will meet a 10:15 in the funeral home to conduct
their ritual. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the
Massachusetts Veterans Shelter, 69 Grove St. Worcester 01605. |
