MEMORIAL SERVICE HELD IN VICENZA, ITALY

   the 1/508th, at the time of the Chinook crash, was based at Caserma Ederle (Camp Ederle) in Vicenza, about 25 miles west of Venice.  shortly after the accident occurred, a memorial service was held in the Post Chapel for the 3 men of the 508th and also Maj Edward J. Murphy, a member of the Southern European Task Force Headquarters who was also killed in the crash.

was held in the Post Chapel and drew a large group of mourners
