LT EDWARD E. BOHNSACK

1/LT Edward E. Bohnsack

   He piloted a C-53,  #42-68707, carrying Chalk #3  of the 508th on D-Day.
   For reasons unknown he was forced to land at an emergency airfield on the return flight.

[courtesy John Parr, son of Lt/Capt Clinton J Parr, was a B17 pilot in the 401st BG (Heavy) 615th Squadron, based nearby in Deenthorpe. 
   Clinton was Lt Bohnsack's best hometown friend. Both were from Davison, Michigan (east of Flint)

Dies In State

   Funeral services for the husband of a former Tallahassean were conducted in Davison, Mich., yesterday.
   Edward Bohnsack, 38, husband of the former Hazel Davis, died from a heart attack last week while the couple and their two children were enroute to Michigan after vacationing in Coral Gables with Mrs. Bohnsack's mother.  Death occurred in Clearwater [FL].
   Mrs. Bohnsack attended Florida High School and Florida State University.  Her survivors [sic] in Tallahassee include two aunts, Mrs. Norman Harper and Mrs. Fred Burns.

Edward enlisted in the Army Air Corps as a Private on 3 January 1942 and was selected for pilot training and a commission.

Based on the headstone inscription, Edward transitioned to the U.S. Air Force after it was created in September 1947 and attained the rank of Captain.
