508th VALENTINES DAY DANCES IN FRANKFURT

Hq 3rd Casanovas
A Valentines Day dance held at the Frankfurt Athletic Club, Pursen-Saal, Frankfurt Am Main was a great way to meet the ladies.

Birthday Bash

The Valentine's Day dance must have been a great success as just 4 days later the regiment staged a dance in honor of our first President.  Whatever works!

For here below it is;

The prop blast originated by the 501 Prcht. Bn. is the ceremony used to initiate new officers into a Parachute Regiment or battalion.  Formerly it was a stag affair held away from public view, but somewhere along the line someone conceived the excellent idea of admitting the ladies, sometimes known as the fair sex.  The name "Prop Blast" is very apropos as you will see this evening.  Anything can happen tonight . . . . watch the malfunctions,  streamers, and particularly the guys who have to pull their reserves.

Mr. Kim Rostad sent the documents at left, and wrote:

"I borrowed these from my mother. Mireille Brouillard Rostad who served with the Belgian underground during WWII and married my American father who was a GI.  Dad passed away in 2007.

Mom tells stories of hanging around with the 508th and even made a non-authorized jump with them. I hope your guys will enjoy seeing these."

Many 508th veterans will certainly enjoy these, Kim, and we are wondering how many other unauthorized jumps may have been made in those days.  Perhaps some veterans will share those stories.
