ex-POWs
were not the only ones to be treated to an early return to the home
shores. Thirty men who re-enlisted arrived in Boston, MA
aboard the USAT Wakefield which is listed first in this article.
Unfortunately the names of the 508th men are not listed.
Also mentioned are four other troop carriers arriving
in the port of Boston. Three of them departed from Marseilles,
France and the other from Liverno, Italy; all converging at
Boston. Whether the early return was strictly a re-enlistment bonus
is unknown. |
