Lucien Hasley is a special friend of the 508th. While many citizens of Normandy have expressed their sentiments in an extremely heart-felt manner, Lucien's gesture is unique - he built a wall of remembrance at his home and it is inscribed with the names of many men of the 508th. Almost every brick bears the name of an individual or a date. Also featured are aircraft and parachutes. Between the two chute canopies is a star with jump wings signifying the award the parachutists earned that fateful day in June 1944. |
"Mur du souvenir Normandy Coline 30" Lucien and his 'Memorial Wall' are featured in this composite photo which also bears the signatures of more than 60 508ers. The photo was presented to Lucien at the 27th Annual 508th PIR Association Reunion, held in Tampa, FL in September 2001 |
Lucien Hasley has become well known locally due, at least in part, to his very personal efforts. He is seen here speaking at an event held in Normandy |
