Lt Kristen Dodd is the granddaughter
of Lt. George Gurwell (Hq Hq). Kristen is a jump-qualified nurse
and is now serving in Afghanistan. She heads up an all-female
team that interacts with local women.

2021 Commemoration
The non-profit organization "Friends of the WWII Memorial." each year sponsors a wreath laying ceremony at the Atlantic pavilion side of the WWII Memorial on the Mall in Washington, D.C on 6 June, D-Day.
Various veteran groups lay wreaths in remembrance of the sacrifices made by our troops in this great endeavor.. This year the 82nd Airborne Association participated in the ceremony
. Lieutenant Gene H. Williams of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne, who jumped into Normandy as a Pathfinder stick commander, KIA at Pretot 20 June 1944, was remembered. He was represented at the ceremony by his son Gene H Williams, Jr., former 5th SFG/MACV SOG.
The 82nd Airborne Association wreath was placed above a memorial display for Lt, Williams including many photos of combat in Normandy from Lt. Williams' camera.
