Seventh
Bond Campaign
Intakes seven letters to spell victory and seven loans to
gain it. |
Rameses
Cigarettes
were an unlikely sponsor for the 7yh bond drive but they brand
was capitalizing on home front shortages.
Cigarettes were part of the GIs’ rations.. The most popular brands
were issued everywhere the military was fighting, and the volume
shipped overseas created a shortage at home.
The Stateside market often lacked popular name brands such as
Camels, Chesterfields, Lucky Strike, Kools, and Pall Malls.
As a result, loff-brands such as Rameses and Picayune, came back
into favor. |
