News JULY 2006
Dear 508 Veterans, Ralph “Zig” Boroughs Taking Over as 508 Columnist As of the August 2006 issue of Static Line, Ralph “Zig” Boroughs will be taking over as editor of this column. All 508ers recognize Zig. As I’ve stated many times, Zig has done more to preserve
the history of the 508 than anyone else. He served for a number of years as
Secretary of the 508 PIR Association and has published numerous books Farewell After nearly four years of writing this column, it is
time for me to say goodbye and move onto other ventures. It has been an
honor to have served the men and women of the 508 PIR Association in this Being inspired to learn about the life of my uncle a dozen years ago originally led me to the 508 PIR Association, and I now feel the 508 leading me back to him. For the past few years, I have been encouraged to document Capt. Nation’s life in book form, and it is now time for me to focus upon that journey. The men and women of the 508 are unsurpassed, and they have welcomed me into the 508 family with open arms. I will always remember that. I wish to express thanks to all who have supported my
work in this column. Lastly, I want to thank the late Bob Abraham whose
idea it was that I would take over writing the column following the death Standing in the door, Bill Nation
