About The Collator

George I. Stoeckert  2nd Lt. to Captain. Served in Hq1 from October 20, 1942 to 24 November 1946 as 81 mm Mortar Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Company Commander, and Battalion Executive Officer. He was privileged to serve with the finest paratroopers of the United States Army. His 28 year Army career included a variety of assignments, for example, he:

·    Activated and trained the 100th Reserve Airborne Division in Kentucky and West Virginia.

·    Attended the Infantry Officers School at Fort Benning, GA.

·    Commanded a Field Training Team on Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey.

·    Served two tours in Korea with the 24th Infantry Division.

·    Served In Headquarters First U.S. Army at Fort Jay, New York.

·    Attended the Command & General Staff College, Leavenworth, Kansas.

·    Served with the 8th Airborne Division, Bad Kreuznach, Germany.

·    Served In Headquarters U.S. Army Europe, Heidelberg, Germany.

·    Served in the Operations Directorate, Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D. C.

George retired in 1967 and was employed in industry until 1985.

George and Shirley have been married 56 years. They raised five children George, Gerard, Amelia, Maureen, Cheryl, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

 Shirley has smilingly gone the full distance “commanding” the household–- raising the children managing the families’ finances, and supervising George.  A great helpmate and magnificent companion.
