Grave marker for John L. Albright in the Hillman-Rust Cemetery, Hillman (Montmorency county), Michigan.

John enlisted in the Army at Kalamazoo, MI on 24 November 1942 and volunteered for parachutist duty.

On 5 August 19044, Pvt Albright was transferred to Company E, 508th PIR from the 82d A/B Division, Leicester, England.

Although he arrived too late for the Normandy campaign, John took part in the Holland jump.  He was seriously wounded there on 29 September 1944.  Pvt Albright rejoined his company on 8 November 1944 and was immediately transferred to Service Company where he could be placed on light duty and continue recuperation.

On 9 December 1944 he was fit or duty and was transferred back to Company E just in time to go back into action 9 days later when the Bulge response came up.

Pvt Albright was promoted to Pfc on 22 January 1945 but may have never known it as he was killed in action in the area of St Vith, Belgium just 6 days later.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
