National Jewish Welfare Board record for the death of 1st Sgt Abraham L. Axelrod in France on 15 June 1944.

Abraham registered for the draft in the Bronx, NY on 16 October 1940 and was inducted into the Army at Camp Upton, Yaphank, NY on 6 August 1941.

On 10 December 1942, Pfc Axelrod was transferred from the 893rd Ordinance Company to Company G, 508th PIR..

Pfc Axelrod was appointed to the grade of T/5 on 27 January 1943.  He was transferred in grade to the 541st PIR on 16 August 1943 to serve as a cadre member.

Based on the records shown above Abraham had been elevated to the grade of 1st Sgt and it is presumed that he was still serving with the 541st when he was killed in action.
