Pfc Bayne was killed in action on September 21, 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart

NOTE:  For some reason there are two stones marking his site and with a slight spelling difference in his surname, BAYNE vs. BAYNES.  We assume that the government issued stone, at left, carries the proper spelling as this is what has been seen in various records and accounts.
