Mrs. Verlie M. Chambers of Uneeda
has been notified by the War Department that her son, Sgt. Jack M.
Chambers (above) was killed in action in France, July 5. Sgt.
Chambers, a Van high school graduate, was 21 years old. His late
father was a veteran of World War 1.
Sgt. Chambers enlisted in the army in November, 1942 and trained as
a paratrooper before being sent overseas last December. He
formerly worked at the Y & W Coal Co. at Van.
Besides his mother, two sisters, Betty Jean and Merilene Chambers,

typical, arrival of Sgt Chambers remains. He had been buried in
the Blosville Cemetery, Plot F, Row 4, Grave 78.
The application shows the correct date of death as does
