PVT EWELL T. COOPER

Paratrooper's Body Enroute to Fisher County

ROBY Sept 1 [RNSI] - Relatives in Roby, Mrs.. Ellen Kelley-Key and Tom Rhodes , have been notified of the return of the body of their nephew, Pvt Ewell T. Cooper, a native of Fisher County and the son of Mr. and Mrs. O.B. Cooper of Wick.
   His widow and two small children also live in Wick where young Cooper was employed by Standard Oil and Gas Company before going into the Army.  He is the grandson of Mrs., Joe cooper of Rotan.
   Funeral services will be held at the Rotan cemetery, under the direction of McCombs and Cate Funeral Home of Rotan.  The Coopers formerly lived in the Dowell Community, east of Roan, where Private Cooper attended school.  He later graduated from Wick High School.
   Cooper was a member of 50th Paratroop Infantry, and trained at Camp Mackall, NC.  He was killed in action during the invasion of France, June 6, 1944.

Pvt Cooper was killed in action on 6 June, 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart.
