Missing
CAPT. HAL M. CREARY,  husband of Mrs. Jane Copas Creary, of 447 West Wabash avenue, N. E., and son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Creary, of Memphis. Tenn.. has been reported missing over France since June 6.
  The 25-year-old paratrooper has been overseas since January.. Entering the service in January, 1941, Creary was commissioned at Fort Benning. Ga., then transferred to the paratroopers in October, 1942. A graduate of Central High school, Memphis, he was a cashier and bookkeeper for McKesson and Rabbins Drug Company before entering the service.

CAPT. HAL CREARY
   KILLED IN FRANCE

   Herman Cox, William Cox in  Lists of War Wounded

   Capt. Hal M. Creary, 25, former Chattanoogan and graduate of Central High School, was killed in action July 1 in France, according to information received by his wife who now resides in Atlanta, the Associated Press reported.
   Capt Creary is survived by his wife; parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Creary of Memphis,, and one brother, Officer Candidate James Creary Jr. 5f Fort Benning, Ga.

Hal registered for the draft in Memphis, TN on 16 October 1940 and was inducted into the Army at Fort Oglethorpe, TN on 8 January 1941.

He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt ca. 1941/1942.

  This identity  of the submitter  of this Escape and Evasion report is unknown. This single page is the only portion available at this time
   The report details not only the death of Capt Creary but also 508th officer Lt Shankey as well as the grievous wounding of Lt Bodak, His wound caused permanent paralysis as his spinal cord was severed.
