Six S.C. Men Reported Dead In War Zone

  WASHINGTON (UPI) The Defense Department identified five South Carolina servicemen Monday as casualties of the Vietnam war and said a sixth died not as a result of hostile action. Killed in action were Army Sgt. Dayton J. Hooks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman P. Hooks of Mullins; Army Pfc. Jimmy O. Croft, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Croft Jr. of Columbia; Marine Pfc. Thomas E. Walker, husband of Mrs. Thomas E. Walker of Charleston.

   COLUMBIA Funeral services for PFC Jimmy Croft, 20, of Columbia, who was killed In Vietnam, will be Sunday at p.m. at the Pine Bluff Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Green and the Rev. Glenn Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Grave marker for Pfc Jimmy O. Croft in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Columbia (Richland county), South Carolina.

Pfc Croft was a member of C Company, 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry, He died of wounds after suffering multiple fragmentation wounds from a hand grenade in  Thua Thien, South Vietnam.
