2/Lt EDWARD J. CZEPINSKI

Discharge record and grave marker for 2nd Lt. Edward J. Czepinski at Section B2, Lot 284, Grave 5 in the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Niagara Falls, New York.

Edward had previously served as an enlisted man in the National Guard, Co A, 174th /infantry (see photos) but was discharged after 8 months to accept a commission in the reserves.

Following jump school qualifications he was assigned to the 8th Replacement depot in Leicester England.  On 26 February 1944 he was transferred to Company H, 508th PIR in Nottingham.

Lt. Czepinski was killed in action on July 12. 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart. 

His remains were repatriated for burial after the war.  He was laid in his final place of rest on April 30, 1948.
