PVT PAT DAMICO

Application for grave marker for Pvt Pat Damico in the Calvary Cemetery, Los Angeles (Los Angeles county), California,

Pat enlisted in the Army on 11 January 1940 at Ft MacArthur, San Pedro, CA.  On 2 May 1944 Pvt Damico was transferred from a replacement depot in England to the Medical Detachment, 508th.

He was killed in action on 12 June 1944 and was interred in the Blosville Cemetery, Plot A, Row 9, Grave 171 in Normandy, France.

When the permanent cemetery in Normandy was completed, the Damico family elected to have Pvt Damico's  remains returned and he was laid to final rest in this cemetery.  An application for a flat granite marker was submitted on 15 January 1951.

Pvt Damico's military awards include the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
