MSGT WILLIE M. DAVIS

Grave markers for MSgt. Willie M. Davis in the Waters Cemetery (Pierce county), Georgia.

Willie enlisted at Camp Blanding FL and was designated as a medic. 

On 26 July 1944 T5 (later T3) Smith was transferred to the 508th Medical Detachment from the 82nd Airborne Division.  He was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device and the Combat Medical Badge for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations.

Following the war, Willie re-enlisted and was transferred to the 187th Airborne RCT.

MSgt Smith was killed in action in Inje, North Korea on 2 June 1951 while tending to wounded comrades.  He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
