PVT ROSS DENNISON

Application for the grave marker for Pvt Ross Dennison in the Perkins Ridge Cemetery, Greasy Ridge (Lawrence county), Ohio.

Pvt Dennison was killed in action on 14 September 1944 in Holland.  He was initially interred in the temporary American cemetery at Molenhoek in Plot A, Row 8, Grave 145.

When the Margraten permanent cemetery was completed, the Dennison family elected to have Ross' remains returned and he was laid to final rest in this cemetery.  An application for an upright granite marker was submitted on 18 February 1949.

Pvt Dennison's military awards include the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

Ross enlisted in the Army at Huntington, WV on 17 October 1942.

Pvt Dennison was transferred to Company A, 508th on 10 May 1943.

He was hit by flak and killed while descending in his parachute over Nijmegen, Holland on 17 September 1944.

Pvt Dennison was initially interred in Molenhoek Plot A, Row 8, Grave 145.

When offered the choice, his family opted to have his remains returned home and he was laid to rest in this cemetery.
