and brother
 CLIFTON (Bro) DUCOTE

who was killed in action, in Normandy. France, on June 13, 1944 He was with the 508th Parachute Infantry. His birthday was on February 8. Had he lived, he would have celebrated his 23rd. natal day.

"The beautiful memories of you, Dear Bro
Are with us. forever to stay
The deep sorrow In our hearts increase
With each approaching day.
The knowledge that we could not be with you
When you were called to your Eternal rest
Causes anguish to each one of us
Though we realize, His Will is Best.
Our home that was always so happy and bright Will never be the same again
For you were its Sunshine and light
Now its portals only echo our pain.
You had to leave without one fond farewell
On foreign soil, your life came to an early end
Your sweet face with us forever will dwell
You died as you lived, everybody's friend.

Sadly missed by your family.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben J-. Ducote

PURPLE HEART AWARDED POSTHUMOUSLY

Mr. and Mrs. Ben L. Ducote of Cottonport were awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, for their son, Private First Class Clifton S. (Bro.) Ducote, for military merit and for wounds received in action, resulting in his death, June 13, 1944.
Private Ducote was with the 508th Parachute Infantry In Normandy, France when he was killed. Mr. and Mrs. Ducote also received a Citation, signed by President Roosevelt, stating that their son stands in the unbroken line of Patriots who have dared to die that Freedom might live and grow and increase its blessings. Freedom lives and through it he lives in a way that humbles the undertakings of most men.
Let us all bow our heads in tribute to one of our many brave sons, who willingly gave his life that others might live, safe in security and freedom.
