PVT CHARLES DUNCAN

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Baptist Church for Charles Duncan, Jr. by Rev. Mr. Roysden, pastor of Ninnekah Baptist Church. Duncan, a paratrooper of the 82nd Air Borne Div., was killed in Belgium, Dec. 26, 1943.

The girls quartet of Ninnekah High School sang "Rock of Ages" & "Home Over There" and "Sweet By and By".

The body was escorted by a group of soldiers from Oklahoma City and Chaplain Pine was in charge of the services at the cemetery.

Charles Duncan, Jr. is survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charlie Duncan of Oklahoma City ; three brothers, Herman of CA., Cpl. C. C. Duncan of San Antonio, TX and J. D. of the home and his grandmother, Mrs. M. E. James of Ninnekah.

Pvt Duncan was transferred to Company E of the 508th PIR on 10 August 1944 from the 11th Replacement Depot.  He was killed in action in Belgium on 26 December 26, 1944 and was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
