Kenneth registered for the draft in Sheboygan, WI on 26 February 1944.

SSgt Eirich was killed in action in the Taegu Area, South Korea while serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment.

During the latter phase of WWII, then Pvt Eirich served with Company H, Frankfurt Germany.

In May 1944, Pvt Eirich was wounded in one of his hands by a bullet judged to be from a pistol or revolver. He returned to duty the following month.

Note that he was reported as serving in Japan immediately prior to his reassignment in Korea.  It is possible that he had been stationed in Beppu with the 508th ARCT although that has yet to be proven.,
