SPC DANIEL JASON FREEMAN

Daniel J. Freeman, 20, of Cincinnati; specialist, Army. Freeman was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghanzi, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment at Camp Ederle, Italy.

Daniel, age 20, killed in action April 6, 2005 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, beloved son of Shmuel and Rebecca Birkan, devoted brother of Adam Birkan, loving grandson of Gerd and the late Edith Buchheim and Judy and the late Ruby Birkan and other loving family members. Services Weil Funeral Home, 8350 Cornell Rd., Wednesday, April 20 at 12 Noon. No visitation before the funeral service. Shiva will be observed at the families' residence. Memorial contributions to Daniel Jason Freeman Memorial Fund c/o Fifth-Third Bank would be appreciated.

   Blue Ash Killed April 6. 2005 In Ghazni. Afghanistan Freeman, 20, died with 14 other soldiers when their helicopter crashed in a heavy sandstorm. The 2003 Sycamore High School graduate yearned so much for military service that he joined a year before he finished high school. Freeman moved to Blue Ash after living in Israel for about eight years. His parents, Samuel and Rebecca Birkan of Blue Ash,; plan to travel in June to Israel to spread their son's cremated remains in an olive grove on the family farm there.
