Donald enlisted at Los Angeles, CA on 3 February 1943 and was assigned to Company F, 508th PIR.

Remarkably, no Morning Report records appear for Donald other than when he was listed as killed in action in Holland on 1 October 1944.  Similarly, no newspaper accounts of his service or interment have been found either.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal.
