2ND LT GARY A. GUASP

Dead in Viet
   Washington. May 16 (UPI) --- The Defense Department identified today 101 U.S. servicemen killed in action in Vietnam.
   Listed are the following army men from the metropolitan area: Capt. James S. Hay of Baldwin, L.I.; 2d Lt. Gary A. Guasp of Brentwood. L.I.; 2d Lt. William B. Kimball Jr. of Cliffwood, N J.

Lt. Gary A. Guasp, former MAC 123-pound champ for Lycoming College in 1965 and 1966, has been killed in action in Vietnam.  He was a Brentwood, L,I., N.Y. native.

Lt. Guasp suffered multiple fragmentation wounds and was killed in an ambush while on a road convoy between Fire Bases Birmingham and Boston, Highway 547, RVN,

He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge as well as the New York Conspicuous Service Cross.

Lt Guasp is memorialized on Panel 55E, Row 14 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC.
