Grave marker for T/5 James W. Hall, Jr. in the Garden of Peace, Grove Hill Memorial Park, Dallas (Dallas), Texas.

James enlisted in Dallas, TX on July 30, 1940.  His enlistment record stated he was born in 1922 which made him 18 years of  age.  His cemetery marker, however, shows that he was actually just 16 at the time.  The actual date of his birth in 1924 is verified by his birth record

Despite his youth, James apparently made a good soldier and achieved the rank of Technician Fifth Class, the specialist equivalent of Corporal, when he was still 19 years old.

James' awards include the Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge and the Purple Heart.
