CPL MARTIN R. HALOPOFF

Jewish Welfare Board record for the death of Cpl Martin R. Halopoff in Holland on 1 October 1944 and grave marker in Russian Molokan Cemetery, Commerce, (Los Angeles county), California.

Charles enlisted in the Army at Los Angeles, CA on 22 October 1942 and was assigned to Company E, 508th PIR.

Pfc Halopoff was appointed to the grade of Corporal on 5 November 1943.

Cpl Halopoff participated in the jump into Normandy on 6 June 1944 and was listed as seriously wounded on 4 July 1944.  He was hospitalized but was able to return to duty on 4 August 1944.

Cpl Halopoff then participated in the jump into Holland on 17 September 1944 where he was killed in action on 1 October 1944.

Cpl Halopoff was initially interred in the Molenhoek Temporary Cemetery in Plot B, Row 10, Grave 181.
