Application for a grave marker and resulting stone for Pfc Albert C. Horn in
the Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines (Polk county), Iowa.
Albert enlisted in the Army at Ft Bragg, SC on 1 October
1942 and was sent to camp Blanding, :FL where he was assigned to Company
A, 508th PIR.
Pvt Horn was apparently transferred
from the 508th on or about 27 December 1942 as the payroll indicates
that he was to be paid through that date and his name does not appear
elsewhere in 508th records thereafter.
.According to the application for a grave
marker record he was serving in the Co G, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th
Infantry Division when he was killed in action on 1 September 1944.
The 116th was fighting in the ara of Brest, France at that time. |
