COMPLETING eight weeks
of advanced individual
training with the Second Armored Division at Fort Hood, Tex., was
Pvt. Washington L. James, 21, son of Earnest L. James, Sprague. He
entered the Army last June. Before entering the Army 'he was
employed by Mountain State Termite Co., Prosperity. His mother,
'Mrs. Julia A. Jarrett, lives at Sprague.

Washington L. James, whose wife Alice, lives in Shady
Regularly assigned as rifleman in Company C, 39th In- at Fort Lewis,
he entered the Army in June, 1959, and completed basic training at
Fort Hood, Tex. The 21-year-old soldier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earnest

Lee James, 27, son of Mrs. Julia James, is undergoing four .months
special training at Fort Benning, Ga. in preparation to a tour of
duty in Viet Nam.
He has recently returned from a three and a half year in Germany
where he served as Non Commissioned Of 5cer in Charge of Security
Sections with the 28th Ordnance at Zweibruken.
Sgt. James has been in the Army for seven years.
His wife, Alice Faye, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Odell Elkins,
Shady Spring. Mrs. James and the couple's two sons will remain here.

Sgt. 1 C Washington Lee James, 27, of Shady Spring,
was killed Tuesday in action in Vietnam.
Born Sept. 4, 1938 at Prosperity, he was a son of Ernest Lee and
Julia Jarrett James of Mabscott. Other survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Alice Faye Elkins James, Shady Spring; three sons, Terry, Kevin
and Anthony, all at home; two Brothers, Owen, Cleveland, Ohio Doff
with the U. S. Army Vietnam and three sisters, Mrs. Frances Gregory,
Mrs. Alma Ward, both of Cleveland, Ohio and Miss Beverly Sue James
of Mabscott.
The body is being returned to the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home
for completion of funeral arrangements.

Vietnam
Sgt. Washington James, son of Mrs. Julia James of
Mabscott and Ernest James, also of Mabscott, Is serving in Vietnam.
A drill sergeant at Ft. Benning, Ga. for the past 17 months, he has
been assigned to a 13-month tour o( duty. His the former Alice Faye
Elkins, and three sons will live at Shady Spring.

Military rites for Sgt. FC Washington Lee James, 29,
of Shady Spring will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the Perry
Memorial Methodist Church with an Army chaplain in charge. Burial
will be in Sunset Park.
Friends may call at the Rose Quesenberry Funeral Home 7 p.m.
Saturday. He was killed in Vietnam on August 27.

1959.
Washington enlisted in the Army
on 14 December 1963.
Pvt James went through
basic training as well as AIT (Advanced
Individual Training)
Following jump school
And a posting to Germany, he was sent to Vietnam where he was killed
in action on 27 august 1968.

Casualty Type: Hostile - Killed, Multi-Fragment Wounds"
