PFC HERMAN L. JAYNES

Rites Set For Soldier

Reburial service for Pfc Herman L. Jaynes, formerly of Mansfield [OH], will be held Saturday at 2 p, m. in Pomeroy.  Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery at Pomeroy.
   He was killed in France, July 3, 1944, while serving with the 82nd airborne division of the 508th parachute infantry.
   Pfc Jaynes was born Feb 16, 1921 at Blair, W. Va. and entered the service Oct. 30, 1942.
   He is survived by his mother, Mrs.. Fannie Jaynes, 388 Newman street, five sisters, Mrs. Floyd Cottrell and Mrs. Glenn Thompson of Pomeroy, Mrs. Dorothy Arnett, Mrs. Harvey Letts, and Mrs. Roy Reber of Mansfield,  two brothers, John and Paul Jaynes of Pomeroy, and one daughter, Ginger, of Mansfield.

Pfc  Jaynes was a member of Company E and was killed in action on 3 July 1944.  He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
