SPC-4 RONNIE W. JOHNSON

Spec. 4 RONNIE W. JOHNSON, son of Mrs. Neva M. Johnson and C. L. Johnson, Burke, received the Bronze Star Medal for heroism in action while engaged in ground operations against a hostile force in Vietnam. He is serving with the 82nd Airborne Division's 508th Infantry. His wife, Anne, resides m Burke.

   BURKE — Ronnie R. Johnson received the Bronze Medal [sic] for heroism in action while engaged in ground operations against hostile forces near Puh Bai, South Vietnam.
   Specialist Johnson completed basic training at Ft. Lewis, and has been in Vietnam since last June.
   His wife. Anne; and his mother, Neva M Johnson, both live in Burke and his father, C. L. Johnson, rural Burke.

Burke Rites For Ronnie Johnson

  BURKE --- Funeral services for Sp. 4 Ronnie Johnson, 22, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Clausen Funeral Home with the Rev. James Tunnissen and the Rev. Joe Wallace officiating. 
   The Rosary will be recited Saturday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in the ZCBJ Cemetery at Gregory with military honors.
   His brother, Allen, who Is in the armed forces stationed at San Francisco, will act as military escort.
   Ronnie Johnson was born Dec. 30, 1946 at Burke to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Les Johnson and died May 14 of injuries received in Vietnam. He entered the service Jan. 3, 1938 and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Wash, until going to Vietnam in June 1968. On May 20, 1967 he married Anne Preslicka at Burke.
   Survivors include his widow; his father: his mother, Neva Johnson; three brothers, Gene, Roger and Allen, and grandmothers, Mrs. Charles Johnson and Mrs. Raymond  Noerike, all of Burke.

Spc-4 Johnson died of wounds on 14 May 1959 in Kien Hoa, South Vietnam on May.  He had begun his tour of duty on 31 May 1968 and was just days from retuning home.

Rites At Burke For War Victim

   BURKE, S.D. Funeral services were held here for Spec.4 Ronnie Johnson, 22, who died in hostile action in Vietnam.
   Ronnie entered the service Jan. 3, 1968, and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Wash., until going to Vietnam in June, 1968.
   Survivors include the widow; the former Anna Preslicka, Burke; his father, Charles L. Johnson, Burke; his mother, Mrs. Neva Johnson, Burke; three brothers, Gene, Roger and Allen, Burke; his grandmothers, Mrs. Charles Johnson and Mrs. Raymond Noerike, both of Burke.
