Albion, NY: US Army Specialist
Jason M. Johnston, age 24, stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC, died suddenly
December 26, 2009, while defending his Nation in Afghanistan. He
was born in Rochester, December 10, 1985, to Brad and Jeanine (Schicker)
Johnston and had lived in Albion most of his life. Jason was a United
States Army Specialist E-4 serving with the 2nd Battalion, 508th
Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division, 4th Regimental
Combat Team. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW,
Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph's Church, and the Albion Fire Department.
Jason enjoyed Country music, cowboy hats, and liked to sing, dance,
and be goofy-causing people to smile and laugh. He cherished his
friends and his sisters and had always wanted to be a soldier. Jason
loved what he was doing…he felt it his duty to serve his Country.
He is survived by his Father: Brad Johnston of Albion, his Mother:
Jeanine Johnston of Albion, his sisters: Carrie (Travis) Riley,
Holly Johnston, and Heather Johnston, all of Albion, as well as
several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral
Homes, Inc., 21 West Avenue-Albion, MONDAY from 2-6 p.m. Family
and friends are invited to gather TUESDAY at 11:00 a.m. in Holy
Family Parish-St. Joseph's Church for Jason's Mass of Christian
Burial. Interment will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery, with full military
honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Albion
Fire Department, COVA, or the Orleans County Veterans Service Agency.
